چکیده

This paper addresses the challenges of selecting a suitable method for negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor-based measurement in electronic devices. Although accuracy is great importance, calculation time represents an even greater challenge since it inherently constrained by control algorithm executed microcontroller (MCU). Firstly, simple signal conditioning circuit with NTC thermistor introduced, resulting temperature-dependent voltage UT being connected to MCU’s analog input. Next, simulation-based approximation actual vs. curve derived, four notations: look-up table principle, polynomial approximation, B equation and Steinhart–Hart equation. Within simulation results, expected error individual methods calculated, whereas experimental part, performed on DC/DC converter prototype, required prework available MCU resources are evaluated. In terms accuracy, offer superior results over equation, especially nominal range thermistor. However, prework, inferior compared despite latter having far more complex mathematical functions, affecting overall execution significantly.

Concepts for Real-time Execution in Safety-critical Applications

Programmable electronic systems (PESs) that are currently employed in safety-critical applications follow either a strictly periodical or a task-based operating policy. This paper discusses these policies with regard to safety aspects and introduces a novel real-time execution concept that combines their advantages. The main characteristics of this new concept are quantisation of time into disc...

A New Structure for Direct Measurement of Temperature Based on Negative Temperature Coefficient Thermistor and Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System

Thermistors are very commonly used for narrow temperature-range high-resolution applications, such as in medicine, calorimetry, and near ambient temperature measurements. In particular, Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) thermistor is very inexpensive and highly sensitive, whose sensing temperature range and sensitivity are highly limited due to the intrinsic nonlinearity and self-heating p...

Micro-PCR Chip NTC-Thermistor Sensor-Calibration System

In this paper, we implement a Steinhart-Hart calibration-factor value measurement system to obtain accurate temperature measurements of a negative-temperature coefficient thermistor. The thermistor is mounted on a micro-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) chip in a micro-PCR systemthat requires accurate temperature measurement and control. When obtaining the calibration-factor value, it is impossib...
